Exit Counseling
Who must complete Exit Counseling?
Any student who received a student loan while attending
the University of Florida MUST complete an on-line
Exit Counseling session.
When must I complete Exit Counseling?
A student must complete Exit Counseling when they
graduate, drop below half-time enrollment, withdraw from the University of Florida
or have not paid their fees by the fee payment deadline.
Graduating seniors will receive an exit interview
packet in the mail approximately one month prior to commencement. For Federal Perkins,
HPSL/LDS, PCL and Institutional Loan borrowers, the packet will contain a repayment
schedule, copy of signed promissory note(s) and instructions for on-line Exit Counseling.
Federal Direct Loan borrowers will receive repayment information directly from the
Direct Loan Servicer.
Students who drop below half-time enrollment or withdraw
from the University of Florida and have not completed Exit Counseling will also
be mailed an exit interview packet. After the on-line Exit Counseling has been completed
and UFS receives the ORIGINAL signed repayment
schedule, the exit interview hold will be removed from the student's record.
Why must I attend an Exit Counseling Session?
The Exit Counseling will cover important information
you should know about your loan(s). In addition, Exit Counseling is mandated by
Federal regulations. When you accepted your student loan, you made a legal agreement
to complete Exit Counseling before you leave the University of Florida.
Note: Those who do not complete
Exit Counseling will have their official transcript, diploma, and other University
services placed on hold.
