Delinquent Accounts

University Financial Services will place a financial hold on your account if it is past due. A financial hold prevents future registration, receipt of transcripts, and access to grades and other University services, including admission to athletic events. Types of accounts that become delinquent often are accounts receivable charges (from the library, housing, parking office, and infirmary), tuition fees and loan payments. Please note that loan payments are due on the first day of the month. If you fail to submit any payment on time your account becomes delinquent.

Delinquent Accounts Receivable
Account receivable charges three months past due are placed with a collection agency and collection costs* will be added, increasing the amount owed. Also, accounts past due 120 days or more will be reported to the Credit Bureau.
 Delinquent Tuition Fees
Tuition Fees not paid by the required deadline date will be assessed a $100 late payment fee. Accounts past due 120 days or more will be reported to the Credit Bureau, placed with a collection agency and collection costs* will be added, increasing the amount owed.
 Delinquent Loans
Delinquent loans are assessed late penalties, collection costs* and or litigation fees. Failure to pay loan obligations will increase the amount owed and create a negative report to the Credit Bureau.

* NOTE: Florida Statute and University of Florida rules and regulations provide the authority to assess these costs to the student. The general statutory authority is Florida Statute Section 1009.24(13)(i). This section has been implemented by the UF Board of Trustees in Rule 6C1-3.3076(20).
